On November 16th, it was the inaugural race of

Coco Cabana !

Coco is a 2yr old filly owned by good friends Darrell & Sadie Brommer of the world famous Brommer Racing Stable.  The Brommers - like us - have Chris Block as their ever capable trainer.  Chris unfortunately could not saddle her this day as he was at Churchill Downs competing in their November meet.  Coco went off as the 9-5 favourite in a Maidens Special Weights race of 6 furlongs at Hawthorne Racecourse.

I joined Darrell & Sadie in the paddock where they were joined by other family members to witness Coco's 1st race.  She blistered out of the gate and quickly took the lead setting some blazing fractions of 22.1 at the quarter and 45.9 at the half - if I remember correctly.

Through 5 1/2 furlongs she was in control but tired a bit in the last half furlong and finished just out of the money. Though dissappointed she didn't fare better, it was easy to see why everyone is so high on this young filly.  She looked great and is still learning and developing.

Picture left is of our hero in the Post Parade under the control of Eddie Razo - the usual jockey for Brommer Racing.  Picture right is of Coco on the rail still in command as she leaps down the stretch. Snap all the way at the bottom is close-up of a game Coco following the race.

It was great to see Darrell & Sadie as they have become great friends and mentors to Red Rabbit Racing.

I am sure there are many good things to come for this talented Filly!
