The Princess Kathy & I were overjoyed to return to Lexington, KY to watch our 3 yr old Filly,

GoldenAgeActress Run

at beautiful Keeneland Racecourse!  It had been over 10 years since we had a horse good enough to run at Keeneland and it was a thrill to be back there in their paddock watching our horse get saddled.

We are a minority partner with a really nice guy named Tim Keeley.   Even though we have yet to meet, Tim is a long term client of our trainer Chris Block and Trainer Block put the 2 of us together on this filly named GoldenAgeActress.

She is a daughter of Street Sense (WOW!), which makes her a Grandaughter to Irish legend, Street Cry (Goose Pimply WOW!)

We left on the morning of Apr-16 having plotted a Speed Run directly to Lexington.

However, the Princess rerouted me to a Buckee's Travel Center in Richmond, KY so she could buy a T-Shirt for Brad.

Well the Princess fell in love wih the store and now any road trip will have us stop at a Buckee's should there be one on the way.

That night we had dinner with Long TIme friend Trainer Neil Pessin at his favourite Lexington Restaurant, The Merrick Inn.   It was awesome.  (Picture left).  We hadn't seen Neil in years and we missed him.   Hoping we can see more of him down the track!

On Raceday, we got to the track early as I needed to make sure my Racing License was in order and I wanted to get a few snaps of the filly.   We accomplished both.

Trainer Pessin was kind enough to invite us into his box for the race.  In the box adjoining his, a group of 6 ladies were enjoying a racing afternoon and quickly befriended The Princess to join them and knock back a couple cocktails.  Of course The Princess obliged. Picture all the way on bottom.

Before the race we went into the Paddock with Neil and watched our filly get saddled and met the jockey.  Off they went to the turf track.  It was a full field of 12 and we had drawn the 9 post.  The purse was a whopping $110,000 and the betting crowd didn't think much of us as we went off at 62-1!

At the break, she settled in at 3rd place and stayed there til late in the stretch when we got passed late to finish 4th.  But she was only a head out of 3rd and a length and a half off the lead - so we were ecstatic. And this bunch of horses were good.

Based on that great effort, our next race is probably at Churchill Downs sometime in late May.

Right after the race, we got back in the car for the 6.5 hour trip home.  But it went by quickly as being with the Princess is always a treat and we had a lot of memories to review in the last 2 days.

It was great to see Neil and meet GoldenAgeActress!

It was great to be live at Keeneland!

thanks be to God for his many blessings!
