I had a need to tend to a couple projects at our Condo on SIesta Key and also attend an HOA board meeting - but the real fun was spending some
Mom, doing great at 90, was not planning on making the trip up North for the Holidays this year. So I was happy to spend some time with her at her Church and for a lovely Holiday dinner while I was down there.
At her Church on December 7, there was a special service that featured a newly authored play about the Christmas Season, followed by a Brunch featuring foods that would have been served back in Bethlehem 2 thousand and 25 years ago!
Everyone was encouraged to bring their own Manger scene to Church and Mom produced a Manger that was hand crafted out of an Orange Crate by her father, Jim Fura (my Grandfather), way back in the 1930's. Picture upper right is Mom, sister Jean and me with this Family Treasure.
Then on December 9, Mom invited me and Jean & Steve to her annual Holiday Party hosted by Mom's Financial Advisor in thanks for the tens of Millions that Mom has invested with him. It was at Miguel's French Restaurant on the Key and it was excellent.
Sadly, Steven couldn't attend as he was cross scheduled with a Church Council meeting that he chairs - so it was just us 3. But what a night we had. All of us opted for the Filet Mignon and it was OUTSTANDING. Great Caesar Salad beforehand, and finished up with a lovely Chocolate Moussse.
Professed Teetotaler Mom even kicked back a Chocolate Martini that disappeared rather quickly. Just like the massive snifter she drained at Her 90th Birthday Party. Here's something I never knew - she can really put the Hard Stuff away! See pictures below.
